The Tillett "T11t" is one of the most popular seats in karting. It has a slightly softer rigidity than the T11STD (Standard) seat, which makes it a great option for most karting classes, offering a wide operating performance. It is typically used by manufacturers and professional kart teams and is currently the most popular stiffness with OK Junior, OK Senior, X30 and KZ.
The Tillett "T11" kart seat is a World Championship winning product. The T11t spec was used to win the 2022 KZ World Championship with Victor Gustafson at the wheel. The T11 shape is the most popular shape for adult sized karts. It has a flat base and a 58°/mid-angle reclined back. The design was created to position the driver lower in the kart whilst allowing a more powerful upright shoulder turn, giving the driver more control. Deep sides give ultimate support and reduce the risk ribs injuries. All Tillett kart seats are made in the UK from high impact resistant, strong fibreglass, using Tillett's unique manufacturing process that guarantees perfect control of rigidity.
"T" (Interim/medium) is one of four rigidities in the Tillett range
SEAT | TYPE | RIGIDITY |
T11 | STD | RIGID |
T11 | T | MEDIUM |
T11 | VG | FLEXIBLE |
T11 | VTI | ULTRA FLEXIBLE |

CHOOSING YOUR NEW KART SEAT
There are many factors to consider when selecting a new kart seat. If you had a seat in the past - do you know the size and shape? Does it still fit? If not, where are the gaps or pressure points? Will the rigidity suit your new kart/engine combination?
Choosing a shape
Some would have you believe that shape doesn't make much of a difference but if the seat is not the right fit for you then the seat can cause a driver to damage their body, or hold themselves in the kart by using the steering wheel, neither of which are good for ultimate performance. A significant back angle change will alter the handling, especially for larger drivers.
The Tillett T11/58° is the most popular and most copied shape. The T11 has a huge range of sizes to cater for drivers from 12 years up to a 130kg man, slim hips, atheltic torsos (or thick rib protectors), etc.
Choosing a size
A good fit of the seat is essential for the protection of the driver and the handling of the kart. If a driver is loose in a seat they will pull down to steer with the inner hand, pulling themselves out of the kart and making it bounce at the slightest provocation.

Choosing a rigidity
Tillett Racing Seats were the first to discover that seat stiffness affected lap times. Changing the seat rigidity alters the amount of weight transferred to the outside front tyre, it is also partly responsible for the amount the inside rear wheel can lift through the corners. This gives you the ability to balance a chassis that may not be perfectly adjusted for the track surface, driving style or weather conditions.
